Concerts | Chapelle Royale
Leonardo García Alarcón is a modern-day explorer. Together with his Cappella Mediterranea, the Argentine conductor, passionate about musical research, has continuously investigated the esthetic ideals of baroque to share them with the public.
This is how the oratoriao Il Diluvio universal (The Universal Deluge) was rediscovered with its composer Michelangelo Falvetti and obtained the title of “best concert of 2011” in Belgium.
Inspired by one of the most famous episodes of the Ancient Testament, this oratorio relates the Deluge and Noah’s drift on his ark. This “dialogue for five voices and five instruments” written for the church, has all the elements of a theatrical composition with its abundance of violent passions and cataclysmic effects. The very original music is wonderfully interpreted by the Cappella Mediterranea and the Namur Chamber Choir.
Conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón, this is not just concert, but a panorama of human emotions where no torrent of water can quell the soloists’ flame.
